Solar is cheaper when it goes on during the build

• Scaffolding is already there. On a retrofit, scaffolding is a real line item. On a new build it is already up and paid for.
• Clear roof access. No working around a finished, occupied home. Faster, safer, cheaper.
• Cabling before linings. Cable runs go through open framing rather than being fished through finished walls or run in surface conduit. Neater result, less labour.
• Correct switchboard from the start. Specify it once rather than upgrading later.
• One disruption, not two. The house is a building site already.
