Solar.co.nz is a member of SEANZ, the Sustainable Energy Association of New Zealand. All electrical work is performed by EWRB-registered electricians and installations comply with AS/NZS 5033 and AS/NZS 4777.2. You can verify all of this independently, and we would encourage you to.

What they mean

What each one means

SEANZ membership

The Sustainable Energy Association of New Zealand is the industry body for solar and renewables. Members commit to a code of conduct and industry standards. It also matters financially: ANZ and Kiwibank will only approve green lending on a quote from a SEANZ member installer, so choosing a non-member can disqualify you from borrowing at around 1%.

EWRB registration

The Electrical Workers Registration Board licenses electrical workers in New Zealand. Connecting solar to your home is prescribed electrical work and must legally be done by a registered electrician. Ask any installer for the registration number of the person who will actually do the work.

AS/NZS 5033

The joint Australia and New Zealand standard covering the installation and safety of photovoltaic arrays. It governs how the array is mounted, wired, isolated and labelled.

AS/NZS 4777.2

The standard governing grid-connected inverters, including the voltage response modes your lines company requires.

AS/NZS 5139

The standard for battery energy storage installations, where a battery is included.
